Man on Bicycle Critically Injured in Vehicular Crash in Atlantic Beach
Calendar icon September 7, 2020

Whenever the police respond to an accident involving a bicycle, they expect the worst. A person simply can’t withstand the impact of a car. There’s really nothing to protect them other than a plastic helmet. This seemed to be the case this week in Atlantic Beach.

The police responded to the report of a vehicular accident on the Atlantic Beach Bridge on Saturday, August 29th. The crash happened at about 2:30 in the afternoon.

A 27-year old man driving a 2000 Chevy was traveling in the Northbound lanes of the bridge. A man was driving in the same lanes on his bicycle. The cyclist was a 46-year old man. The police haven’t released the names of either the driver of the Chevy or the man on the bicycle.

The Chevy crashed into the man on the bike and ran him over. The cyclist suffered very serious injuries and was taken to the local hospital for treatment. The doctors confirmed he suffered multiple head traumas during the accident. His condition at the time of this report was critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Chevy was not injured.

The police in Nassau County indicated that the Chevy had recently been tested for safety. The car’s brakes had also been tested recently. The police have not indicated what caused the Chevy driver to crash into the cyclist.

The police investigation is still ongoing. Normally, one wouldn’t expect impairment to play a role in an accident that happens in the afternoon. Here, the police did not indicate if they are running toxicology reports or not.

The man on the bicycle will likely have a legal claim against the other driver.

Testimonials

  • This letter is to thank Ms. Diane D’Andrea, assistant to Mr. George Gridelli, Attny for all the hard work, dedication, and attentiveness she showed during the representation of my case. She was always cheerful and ready to help in whatever way she could. All messages left for Mr. Gridelli were always relayed and Mr. Gridelli always promptly returned our calls. She was a very competent assistant. Cellino Law has proven to be a model of what legal representation should be. Throughout the 6 ½ years of this case, I have heard many horror stories from people with “bad lawyer stories.” We consider ourselves to be very lucky to have chosen Cellino Law and will always recommend you to those looking for good, honest representation with a personal touch.
