Four people died in an accident when a wrong-way driver crashed directly into an SUV. The crash happened on Tuesday morning in the darkness of a Long Island highway, according to the state police.
The wandering driver entered the Southern State Parkway about a mile from the North Massapequa wreck. He was killed along with three people in the SUV in the accident that occurred shortly after 5 a.m., the New York State Police informs.
All four were pronounced dead at the scene.
The officers received several calls reporting the 1998 Toyota Camry driving in the wrong way. Five state troopers were unable to reach the runaway vehicle before it hit an oncoming 2011 Nissan Rogue just one minute later, Troop L Acting Cmdr. George Mohl said.
The sixty-seven-year-old SUV driver and two female passengers (one aged 57 and the other 34), were killed. All three victims were from Hempstead and were going to work in Farmingdale, where the wrong-way driver lived, police said.
The only survivor in the SUV was sitting in the front passenger seat, but was in severe condition and transported at Nassau University Medical Center.
Being involved in an accident with severe injuries or fatal outcomes is a hard experience for both victims and the family of the person who died. Facing the challenge of recovery, lost wages, high medical fees, and other accident-related expenses can be difficult.
If you were recently injured in an accident (no matter whose fault it was) you should seek a car accident attorney as soon as possible. You would need strong support when seeking your compensation claim.
The insurance company would make sure to offer a lower settlement or even deny it. Your attorney won’t let that happen.
