A man died in a New York City bus accident after being hit by a collapsing street pole that had been struck by the city bus on April 8.

According to the police, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority was trying to navigate around a disabled vehicle when it ran onto the sidewalk and crashed into the pole. The impact forced the pole to fall and land onto fifty-nine-year-old Lance Margolin who was going home from a birthday party with his wife and friends. His wife was right next to him but sustained no injuries.

Margolin was rushed to the hospital with head and bodily injuries where he passed away two days later.

The New York Police Department Highway District Collision Investigation Squad continues the investigation into the New York City bus accident. The MTA Bus Company President said that they are cooperating with the New York Police Department investigation and the bus driver was withheld from the passenger service pending a detailed internal review.

Sometimes people end injured in the most unbelievable way. Such cases can be easily categorized as pedestrian accidents. If your injuries as a pedestrian were caused by a vehicle that did not necessarily hit you but by an object that fell onto you and caused you injuries, you may be entitled to seek a compensation claim.

It’s best to contact a personal injury attorney so they can review your case and help you with the further steps. These accidents may get more complicated especially with the insurers who will try to downplay you. To avoid low ball offers it’s best if you let your lawyer negotiate until you get a decent offer.

Our team at Cellino Law is here to help you, review your case and advise you for the next steps. Schedule your first consultation with our New York car accident lawyers

  • Joe and I just wanted to send you this note thanking you for the professional way you handled our lawsuit. Your kindness was extremely appreciated in a very difficult time. When we found out the people that caused the accident had no insurance, we thought our chances of receiving any settlement was nonexistent. Once we met with you and released you were able to help us our minds were put at ease. Your aggressive manner of handling the case exceeded our expectations. Please feel free to use us as a reference. Thank you so much and best wishes,
